In the book, Costly Grace: An Illustrated Introduction to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Eberhard Bethge briefly wrote of the final two days of Bonhoeffer’s life…

On Low Sunday, 8 Bonhoeffer had held a service for his fellow-prisoners in the school at Schonberg. At noon the men sent by Huppenkothen appeared at the door, called him out alone, and transported fim 150 kilometres northwards again. They arrived at Flossenburg during the night and everything was handled very quickly. Then in the grey dawn of 9 April Bonhoeffer and his friends were hanged (132).
